Sam is a brand strategist, designer and inventor with a lifelong curiosity about how innovation, design thinking and strategy combine to create and grow successful brands. Since founding Diligent Rocket, Sam continues to be sought out by entrepreneurs, executives and city leaders for his insights and strategies. Sam has an MBA from McGill University with additional studies in design at the School of Visual Arts and innovation at MIT.

Joseph is a designer, educator, and entrepreneur. He brings experience at some of the world's leading creative organizations such as Pentagram, Siegel + Gale, and Razorfish and has designed and managed branding programs for a range of domestic and international clients including Bloomberg, HP, Samsung, SAP, The North Face, The Museum of Art and Design, Special Olympics, and the city of Washington D.C. Joseph has an MFA from the School of Visual Arts.

Director of Engagement

Pam is a real estate development professional with a passion for integrating effective communications into the real estate development process. Along with the Diligent Rocket creative team, Pam helps business owners with vision development, engagement strategies and team building to create win-win opportunities for property owners, developers and the communities they build in. Pam has a JD from the University of Baltimore Law School.

Dr. Michael Miller
Strategy Director

Prof. Michael W. Miller brings over 30 years experience as a science communicator, strategist and educational designer with a broad range of international consulting experience in Japan, North Africa, the Middle East, including work at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute and St. Catherine's College, University of Oxford. He has a D.Phil in neurophysiology from the University of Oxford and an MA from the Royal College of Art. Michael is also founder of Miller Takemoto & Partners and an accomplished artist.

Tamara Connolly
Account Director

Tamara comes armed with a designer’s eye and a strategist’s thirst for understanding. Detailed and methodical, she has a sharpness for uncovering category insights that feed into fresh design concepts and has led projects that span contemporary media. Leveraging her experience in both brand strategy and creative direction, she brings tangible value in bridging the gap between business and design to ultimately shape compelling brands. Tamara holds a BFA from RISD and a MFA from School of Visual Arts.

Anil Vaidya
Strategy Director

Anil brings over 25 years of experience as a life science and healthcare expert with vast experience ranging from industry to national healthcare systems. Anil has worked as an industry advisor for UK Trade & Investment, as a specialist adviser to Boris Johnson the Mayor of London's promotional office and JETRO. Anil was also the founder of Scanurse, a top 10 finalist in the XPrize Tricorder Challege. He has a MSc in Bio-medical Engineering from Rutgers University and an Executive MBA from the UK.

Alessandro Perez
UX/UI Director

Alessandro is a multidisciplinary designer with a background in UI & UX Design. Alessandro comes to us from the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute where he recently lead a group of interdisciplinary teams to deliver a more human-centered digital experience. His previous work includes collaborations with brands such as Converse and Vans. Alessandro has an MA in Visual Communication and Interactive Design from the Bauhaus School in Germany with additional 3D modeling coursework in Argentina.

Esther Wu
Creative Director

Esther Wu is a graphic designer and art director. She spent her post-college years working in a lab as a contraception researcher. She shifted to design after a series of small, typography-related epiphanies. She went on to earn an MFA from The School of Visual Arts. Since then, she has worked for agencies and studios and herself. Design clients have included The New York, Public Library, FSG, BAM, MTV, Saks Fifth Avenue, and many Broadway shows. She lives and works in Brooklyn; she also teaches typography and design at the City University of New York.

Al Pines
Strategy Director

Al specializes in marketing and business development strategies, proposal design and preparation, and complex oral sales presentations. His work since 1992 as Managing Director of our sister company, 90Degrees of Design, has resulted in billions of dollars of contract wins for clients pursuing both commercial and government contracts. Prior to this, he was a Director for Alexander Proudfoot delivering business restructuring and market strategy services in Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and the US. Al has an MBA from the University of Maryland.

Sam Trapkin
Creative Director

Sam is a strategic design thinker with passion for leading projects from inception to launch, ranging from brand experience to multi-platform roll outs. Since 2013 has also been a founding partner and principal at our sister company Studio Unlisted where he works on various interactive projects. Previous to that, he was Senior Interactive Designer at Under Armour where he was involved in a variety of projects including the re-branding of their campaign “Protect This House”. Sam has a BFA from The Maryland Institute College of Art.

Alex Pines
Creative Director

Alex brings over ten years of experience working with in-house and client services, startups and digital advertising agencies. His work and writing has been featured in design magazines and publications including IDEA Magazine, HOW, Communication Arts, I-D, and PRINT Magazine. Since 2013, he has also been one of the principals and co-founders of our sister company Studio Unlisted. He holds an MFA from CalArts and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Alex is also an adjunct professor at Otis College of Art and Design.

Ken S. Gold
Strategy Director

Ken has 25 years experience in creating, growing and managing a variety of businesses. Most recently as Managing Director of Japan for Kit and Ace, he helped launch the brand's efforts in Asia. Previous to that, he was Japan's Country Manager for InterfaceFLOR where he lead the organization’s successful turnaround. He's been a go-to person for clients including 20th Century Fox, Disney, VISA, Saatchi & Saatchi, and various financial institutions. He has an MBA in International Business from McGill University and spends his time between Tokyo and Bali.

David Miller
Engineering Director

Dave is a web, application and software developer with over 15 years of experience creating engaging, interactive and highly–trafficked web and digital products for global companies including Yahoo Sports, Saatchi Art and iStock Photo. Most recently Dave served as Data Visualization Engineer at Edmunds where he helped develop robust systems for helping customers make meaningful, data-driven decisions. Dave holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Calgary.

Sean Monesson
Video Producer

Sean has over 20 years of global production and creative experience. He has worked as a producer, director and DP for commercial and entertainment clients such as Kia, Acura, Nestle, Rolling Stone Magazine, Warner Bros., Duran Duran and Jewel. And his work experience spans the full spectrum of media outlets such as CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS, MSNBC, Reuters, BBC, Discovery Channel, MTV, VH1, and CBC. Sean is an accomplished chef, rescue diver and avid adventurer and sailor. He speaks six languages and counts all four hemispheres home.

Reyniel Caldera
Designer & 3D Illustrator

Reyniel is a multidisciplinary designer with a passion for 3D illustration, motion graphics and UI. He brings experience building brand identity systems, designing apps and custom digital projects and building seamless animated campaigns. Reyniel has a degree in graphic design from UNICA University in Venezuela with additional digital studies at the City of Knowledge, Panama.
